Florida Ranks 11th In Workplace Discrimination Charge Score
TALLAHASSEE, Florida (FLAN 35) — Florida ranked 11th in a supplied state ranking of workplace discrimination charge rates, earning a total score of 57.48.
The data compares reported charges per 100,000 employees across nine categories, including race, sex, age, disability, religion, national origin, color, pregnancy-related discrimination and retaliation.
Florida's retaliation charge rate was 47.04 per 100,000 employees, while disability discrimination charges reached 28.39. The state recorded 20.55 sex discrimination charges and 18.85 race discrimination charges per 100,000 employees.
National origin discrimination charges registered 7.62 per 100,000 employees, while pregnancy-related discrimination charges reached 3.65.
Georgia topped the supplied ranking with a total score of 96.13, followed by Arkansas at 82.87. Florida ranked ahead of Delaware, Alabama and Virginia in the dataset.
The findings offer a comparative view of reported workplace discrimination charges across states, but they do not establish that every reported allegation was substantiated or that the ranking reflects the actual prevalence of discrimination in every workplace.
Charge rates can be influenced by reporting practices, workforce characteristics and differences in how workers pursue complaints.
The supplied figures from PEO Metrics did not identify the period covered or explain the formula used to calculate the overall scores.
For Florida employees and employers, the results provide a starting point for examining workplace complaint patterns without treating reported charges as proven violations.
