DeSantis Reappoints Gary Clark And Gabriella Passidomo-Smith To Florida Public Service Commission

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (FLAN 35) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced October 14 the reappointment of Gary Clark and Gabriella Passidomo-Smith to the Florida Public Service Commission, continuing their service on the state agency responsible for regulating public utilities.

The appointments were made from a list submitted by the Public Service Commission Nominating Council, as required under Chapter 350 of Florida Statutes. Both reappointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Clark, a resident of Chipley, has served on the commission since 2017. Before joining the commission, he was deputy secretary of land and recreation for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

His previous public service includes positions on the Washington County School Board, the Chipola College District Board of Trustees and the Northwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board. Clark earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix.

Passidomo-Smith, who lives in Tallahassee, has served on the commission since 2021. She previously worked as an attorney in the Regulatory Analysis Section of the commission’s Office of the General Counsel.

She is a member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and serves on its Committee on Gas and Gas Subcommittee on Pipeline Safety.

Passidomo-Smith graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in political science before earning her law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law.

The Florida Senate’s confirmation process will determine whether both commissioners continue in their roles.
