More Than 100 New Florida Laws Take Effect July 1

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (FLAN 35) — More than 100 new Florida laws took effect July 1, bringing changes to education, government, transportation, business and public safety.

Among the changes was the state’s new $117.6 billion budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year.

Other legislation addressed data centers, local government authority, election rules and education requirements.

One new law also changed the name of Palm Beach International Airport to honor President Donald Trump.

The wide-ranging changes mean Floridians will see new rules affecting different aspects of daily life.

Businesses, schools, local governments and state agencies are responsible for implementing the laws.

July 1 is traditionally one of the most significant dates for Florida legislation because many laws approved during the legislative session become effective at the beginning of the state fiscal year.
